Enable Futures are operating as an employment business on behalf of its client and recruiting for a Software Development Team Leader remotely from home 50% & office based 50% from modern offices in Yeovil, Somerset. The annual salary is circa £50,000, PA. The working hours are 9.00am – 5.00pm Monday to Friday with a Flexible Working Benefit.

The purpose of the role is to operate as the team lead for the DevOps Team (comprising analysts, developers and testers), which provides Tier 3 application support and product maintenance activities. You will also work with functional and technical Tier 2 support teams to prioritise and resolve customer issues as efficiently as possible. The role includes communicating progress blocks quickly and succinctly, develop and maintain company application in accordance with instructions from the Software Development Manager. To promote speed, scalability and resilience within the code base, contribute as and when required, to the design and specification process of applications. To assist with the development and maintenance of existing .NET products if requested!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Support Manager and peers to prioritise and manage team workload.
  • Ensure that new issues are dealt with efficiently by self or team members and are clearly documented in accordance with company procedures.
  • Use skill and expertise to define, prioritise and plan work for inclusion into maintenance releases.
  • Oversee the development output of the 3rd line support team.
  • Produce clear, accurate code taking responsibility for the tasks given by the SDM.
  • Work within the agreed timescales.
  • Ensure all code is documented in line with the Company’s procedures.
  • Make every attempt to capture mistakes in your own work before submitting for testing by any other person.
  • Create and maintain clear and accurate SQL within company databases.
  • Promote the use of elegant, reusable code wherever possible.
  • Communicate and function effectively with members of the Development Team.
  • Working with the Team Leader, Business Analysts and, where appropriate, customers, undertake research and development and contribute to the design and specification process.
  • Maintain good communication with your colleagues in the Customer Support Team and provide help with resolving customer support issues to ensure that the terms of the Company’s Service Level Agreement are met.
  • Share knowledge and expertise with other staff members, as required, ensuring effective use of time.
  • Escalate any problems or concerns about specific development issues to the SDM.

Experience, attributes & skills sought:

  • Essential:

Experience of leading or managing a team.


Experience of databases such as PostgreSQL, MSSQL, MySQL.

Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, flexibly, under pressure, including a mix of own projects and management.

  • Desirable:

Win Forms.

Source Control.

Unit Testing.

Knowledge of App development.
